Home Spyware & Virus Removal Cost of Spyware and Virus damage
Cost of Spyware and Virus damage Print E-mail

9 out of 10 computers are infected, that's a fact!

BugConsidering this you might need to step up on your fight against spyware and viruses.. at least in your own computer.

Damage caused by spyware & viruses might cost you $300 and up, and your data is at risk. We limit your financial burden instead of letting the clock run free and we always get the job done in time with accuracy.

Note: We also include this service as part of the package Prevention Rather Than Intervention for only 1/4 of the cost it takes to get it fixed, that's right $75 only. Guaranteed best results if done at our location. A great value for only 1/4 of the price it costs by itself.

To take care of any infection we implement a multilayer spyware/virus scan and removal that leaves no harm standing. A search and destroy of this type would not be as complete if done anywhere else but at our location, your hardware needs to be uninstalled and attached to one of our specialised units. We know how to wipe these leashes off, and we know how to limit their come back.

Worst case scenario involves the reinstallation of all software, but not without doing a data backup first. Then protection comes next, and we have the software and the knowledge to implement it.

A more than $300 total value, yours at $225 or less. More than 25% total savings, so give us a call the moment your computer starts acting up 604.728.2325

What's a spyware?

A program that has the ability to scan and/or monitor your computer, then relays the information over cyber-space. Among the information that may be actively or passively gathered is: passwords, log-in details, account numbers, personal information, individual files or other personal documents. Spyware may also gather and distribute information related to the user's computer, applications running on the computer, Internet browser usage or other computing habits.

Spyware frequently attempts to remain unnoticed, either by actively hiding or by simply not making its presence on a system known to the user. Spyware can be downloaded from Web sites (typically in shareware or freeware), email messages, and instant messengers. Additionally, a user may unknowingly receive and/or trigger spyware by accepting an End User License Agreement from a software program linked to the spyware or from visiting a website that downloads the spyware with or without an End User License Agreement.

Computer Worms vs Viruses

A computer worm is a self-replicating computer program. It uses a network to send copies of itself to other computer terminals and it may do so without any user intervention. Unlike a virus, it does not need to attach itself to an existing program. Worms almost always cause harm to the network, if only by consuming bandwidth, whereas viruses almost always corrupt or modify files on a targeted computer.

What's a Browser Hijacker?

A browser hijacker is a program that alters your computer's browser settings so that you are redirected to websites that you had no intention of visiting, like pornographic websites. Browser hijackers can also be responsible for a variety of non-technical problems. Employees have lost jobs because of content and links found on their computers at work; people have been charged with possession of illegal material; and personal relationships have been severed or strained. In one case in the United States, a Russian immigrant was convicted for possession of child pornography, although he claims to have been the victim of a browser hijacker.

What's a dialer?

A dialer is a program that dials your modem access number, you will find this component in certain software suites for various reasons, but you also see it in malware or viruses. If you have broadband then this is something you may not have to worry about but if you recently jumped on to the broadband wagon you may have your modem still hooked up. Our advice on this situation is: if you don't need a modem unplug and disable it.

What's adware?

Adware is an advertising-supported software which automatically plays, displays, or downloads advertising material to a computer after the software is installed on it or while the application is being used.

What protection should I have in 2020

Of the paid 2020 protection on the market we like Kaspersky Antivirus, Antimalware, and Web Protection.

We like simple yet effective protections over complex security. As we know most software firewall are too controlling and the cause of major slowdowns in your computer, so for the average home and small business a router would do the job since it has a built-in hardware firewall, not to mention routers are not the cause of software conflicts and they're a one time investment. A router combined with your software firewall (already in every computer) provide you with adecuate filtering.

The two major resource hogs on the market are Shaw's and Telus' Security Systems, both free with degrading value. The slowdowns outweight the paranoia protection, kind of a software dump ground.

When renewing your protection buy what you already have, more is not necessarily better. Software manufacturers often offer more so you renew with them and not the competition.
